Pai Gow Poker Guide
If only one of your hands is better than the dealer’s hand this will result in a push. Hence, you will get back every single cent that you’ve wagered. When you’ve decided on the two cards you’d like to split from the rest of the cards, you can then press ‘Split’. Upon performing this manoeuver, the winning outcome will be displayed.
The game was created in 1865 by Sam Torosian of the Bell Card Club. Once the Player’s hands are set, each player’s hand is exposed, in turn, and compared to the Designated Player’s hands to determine the winners, losers, or tie hands. The Designated Player’s hand will be set by the dealer before players look at their hands. The Dealer will set the hand according to the House Way. Players may place wagers bearing in mind the posted table minimum and maximum. Players must make a Face Up Pai Gow Poker game wager and will then have the option to make a Fortune Bonus Bet wager and/or an Ace High Pai Gow Wager as well.
For example, being dealt a hand plays itself out with a straight going on the bottom high hand and the pair of deuces going on top for the low hand. The Fortune Pai Gow Poker side bet is one of the most popular you will see. This side bet looks at all seven of the player’s cards regardless of how it was eventually set.
For players with Fortune Bonus wagers, the dealer determines if the hand qualifies for any bonus payouts based on the Fortune pay table. If at least one player has a four of a kind or higher, all players with Envy wagers win based on the Envy pay table. But players can’t win Envy bonuses for their hand or the dealer’s hand. The dealer deals seven hands of seven cards, discarding the remaining four cards. The dealer rolls three dice then counts the players at the table, starting with themselves and moving clockwise, up to the number rolled by the dice. The player who the dealer ends on gets the first hand dealt, and other hands are received counter-clockwise.
The winning cards beat both the dealer’s five-card and two-card hands. A random number generator determines which player receives the first seven cards. Once all hands are dealt, each player looks at and sets his/her hand. The goal is to create the highest five-card hand and the next highest two-card hand. One Pair A hand that consists of two cards of the same rank.
Two Pair – never split any two low pairs ; split low and medium pairs between the high and low hands; split medium and high pairs, etc. One Pair – Use the pair in the high hand and the other highest-ranking cards in the low hand. If perchance you’re either uncomfortable or unable to set your hand, simply ask the dealer for assistance.
